Riders will be hauling their trailers from miles around the Midwest to converge at Silver Creek Park in Hamilton for the Oak Leaf Run Ride Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14 and 15.

The world’s fastest growing equine sport, endurance riding combines the appreciation for nature of a trail ride with the athleticism of endurance sports.  Riders will choose distances of 30, 50 or 75 miles. The ride also offers a 15-mile Introductory/Novice ride and a 25-mile evening ride Saturday night.

Horses will be examined by a veterinarian the night before the ride, during the event and again within 30 minutes after the finish. In this sport, the emphasis is on the horse; not the rider or the equipment used. Safety and the welfare of the horse is of primary concern at all events.

This year, riders will be crossing both ways over the Allegan Dam on the 14th. The public is invited to come out to cheer on the riders and their horses.

The Oak Leaf Run Ride is sanctioned by the American Endurance Ride Conference (AERC), the national governing body for endurance riding.
