Viking boys end regular season with win over Kelloggsville

The Hopkins boys’ vaTyler Schulz1rsity basketball team finished its regular season with a 9-11 overall record with a 69-59 victory over visiting Kelloggsville.

The Vikings were 5-5 in the O-K Silver Conference and they will begin district tournament play March 9 at South Haven.

Hopkins used a solid balanced scoring attack to subdue the visiting Rockets. Three players scored in double figures and one was very close.

Senior forward Tyler Schulz led the way with 21 points and he gathered six rebounds in the final home basketball game of his career. Senior guard Ryan Pierce, likewise in his final home game, dropped in 18 points and dished out five assists.

Jake Saap scored 10 points, Grant Stevens had nine and Isaac Kukulies seven.

Austin Jackson led Kelloggsville with 22 points and Thomas Griggs had 19, but no other Rocket had more than six.
