Service Tuesday for fire chief, businessman Perle Goodman

Perle Goodman Jr. age 83 of Burnips, died Friday, June 16.

After serving in the Army at the end of the Korean War, Perle ran Moored Farm Supply in Hopkins for many years. He also served as a firefighter, assistant chief and chief of the Salem Township Fire Department.

Perle is survived by his wife of 59 years, Yvonne Goodman; children: Todd (Diana) Goodman, Gary (Missy) Goodman, Gale (Diane) Goodman and Tammy (Kevin) Staat; 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; also surviving are sisters: Ethel Warren and Donna Wicks; in-laws: Winona (Wayne) Weber, Linda (James) Weber, Marie Alward, and Emily Goodman, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Perle was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

A time of visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 19, at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State St., Zeeland, MI 49464. A funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday June 20, at Burnips United Methodist Church, 4241 30th, Burnips, MI 49314. Rev. Craig Van Beek will officiate. Interment will be at Salem Township Cemetery.
