Martin Lions announce local Peace Poster Contest winner

by Austin Marsman

Seventh-grader Samantha Stone won the Martin junior high Lions Club Peace Poster Contest with her original entry featuring an array of flags combined to form the peace symbol.

For the 30th annual contest, middle school-aged participants from around the world were challenged to create a poster based on the theme of “Future of Peace.”

According to the Lions Club website, “This art contest… encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace.”

Lions Club District Governor Lloyd Foster was on hand to award Stone and congratulate the class on their work.

“There were a lot of great entries this year, it was good to see all of the creativity,” he said.

Stone’s artwork will next be judged at the district level and has the potential to go on to the state and even international levels.
