Longtime Wayland businesswoman Edith Clack dies at 99

Edith E. Clack, age 99, of Wayland died Tuesday, April 7.

photo_20150408_WM0035602_0_photo_20150408Edith and her husband, Eugene, owned and operated Gene’s Barber Shop & The Beauty Center in Wayland. She was a lifelong member of Wayland United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was active in many women’s groups.

Edith loved to work in her flower and vegetable gardens. They were admired by many in Wayland for their beauty and abundant produce, frequently shared with many friends and family.

Edith is survived by her children Ken (Barb) Clack and Don (Deb) Clack. Her grandchildren Dan Clack, Joyce Smith, Ken Clack, Damon Clack, Autumn Clack and step-grandchildren Rod Daly, Tim Daly and Rita Daly, sister-in-law Barb Clack, nephews Steve Clack, Fred Clack and Niece Charlene Green. She was also blessed by many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Those proceeding Edith in death were her husband Eugene Clack, brother Wayne Dias, sister in law Anna Belle Dias, brother in law Richard Clack and her parents Leo and Isa Dias.

A gathering of family and friends is planned for 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 12, at the Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home in Wayland. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m.  Monday, April 13, at the Wayland United Methodist Church with interment following at Elmwood Cemetery, in Wayland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wayland United Methodist Church choir.
