Wildcat boys cruise to easy non-league win over Hamilton

Lacey SCThe Wayland boys’ varsity basketball team lifted its overall season record to 11-3 Tuesday evening by cruising past visiting Hamilton 65-50.

The Wildcats led 17-10 at the end of the first period and and 36-19 at intermission. They opened up a 22-point advantage after three quarters, 49-27.

Senior 6-9 center Lacey James again paced the Wayland offensive attack with 24 points. Sophomore forward Zac Nieuwkoop added nine points and sophomore guard Avery Hudson eight.

James collected 11 rebounds, senior point guard Dilon Aten dished out five assists and sophomore Mitchell Dykstra had five steals.

Brady Mudd was the only players for the Hawkeyes to score in double figures, as he dropped in a dozen points.

Wayland is looking forward to a visit from Middleville Thornapple Kellogg at 6 p.m. Friday, in a rematch. The Trojans beat Wayland 63-60 last month on their home court, so the ‘Cats will be looking for revenge for their first loss of the season.
