Wayland woman seeks help for treatment for MS in Russia

Linda VanderVanderVlugtVlugt, 58, of Wayland, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, has been selected for Hematopioetic Stem Cell Treatment (HSCT) at Russia’s National Pirogov Medical Surgical Center.

This treatment arrests the progression of MS and may cause a reduction of some of her current symptoms. VanderVlugt, who is trying to raise $50,000 on GoFundMe.com, “desires to be more independent.  She’d like to be able to do more of her own housekeeping and all of her personal care,”according to her site.

Penny Bain Salisbury, coordinator of the Wayland Community Education Leisure Life program for senior citizens, said VanderVlugt has a fund-raising breakfast at Wayland Christian Reformed Church Saturday morning.

Her treatment is not an FDA approved therapy here in U.S. as it is only in clinical trials. Donations can also be made to United Bank donation account set up for her.

“She will leave April 14 so any help you can give her to raise money would be great,” Salisbury said. The web site address is http://www.gofundme.com/fmv1ds…

You can also donate money to her fundraising account #8765.
