WHS Booster award

Jim Shuster was honored Friday evening as 2015 Wayland High School Athletic Booster of the Year.Shuster has been a member of Boosters for many years in various roles, including vice president and sergeant -at-arms.

“”As a parent of an athlete, a community member, and Booster member he has put countless hours in volunteering at sporting events, golf outings, fund-raisers and in the concession stand,” Boosters President Tom Andrews said. When the new concession building opened at the football stadium, Jim put a lot of time in. Jim’s assistance with the Weekend Getaway, Boosters biggest fund-raiser for years, helped make it as successful as it was.”

Shuster also played a fundamental role in the start-up of the Wayland Athletics website, and his business, Warmington Industries, was one of the first sponsors to advertise on the website.

“Jim could always be counted on for a few laughs at Booster meetings,” Andrews added. “His unfailing straightforwardness was valued as a board member. He wasn’t afraid to ask questions, give his honest opinion, or confront issues to do what was right. He boldly wanted what was best for student athletes and for the Booster organization.”
