Stephanie Ainsworth to join brother at Cornerstone

Stephanie Ainsworth

Wayland High School basketball star Stephanie Ainsworth has signed on the dotted line to play hoops next season for Cornerstone University.

Ainsworth joins her older brother, Cory, who leads the Golden Eagles and scoring and rebounding as a sophomore. She also joins former local rival Kennedy Helderop, former point guard for Hopkins, who is starting for Cornerstone at point guard.

Ironically, it was Helderop who more than a year ago predicted Stephanie Ainsworth would join the Lady Eagles basketball squad because of local and family ties.

Ainsworth, who stands at 6-2, was an O-K Gold all-conference selection a year ago and she owns the Lady Wildcats’ individual scoring record for one game, tied with Angie Farmer and Presley Hudson, at 40 points.

She is a four-year starter at Wayland.
