Wayland Union Middle School eighth-grader Mason Drozd won the the 2021 Allegan County Spelling Bee championship and qualified for the Greater Grand Rapids Spelling Bee at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday March 16. Eighteen students in grades fourth through eighth competed Tuesday, Feb. 23, in the Regional Spelling Bee. Participating schools included Moline Christian, Otsego Middle School, Pine Street Elementary School and Wayland Union Middle School.
