Viking frosh wins Allegan Invitational pole vault

Hopkins had three impressive individual performances featured in the Allegan Invitational track meet Friday.

Perhaps most astonishing was freshman Landen Klinge’s victory in the pole vault by clearing 11 feet, six inches. Not far behind was junior Grace Brenner, who finished second in both the shot put (34-2) and discus (96-10.5).

Wayland’s best individual effort was third place, turned in by Breanna Hyde in the 100-meter high hurdles in 18.06 seconds. She also copped a fourth in the 300 hurdles and Hopkins’ Alex Jackson was fourth in the 100 hurdles.

The other Wayland best was fashioned by the 800-meter relay team, which finished third in 1:57.43 with Audrey Lepper, Elliot Antel, Taylor Wolf and Faith Rollandini.

Antel also was fourth in the open 400-meter run and Hyde took fourth in the long jump. Rollandini was fourth in the 200.

Lady Vikings’ freshman Jaeden Harshberger was third in the high jump, as was Helena Kerber in the open 3200.

For the Wayland guys, Austin Reeder finished third in the 110-meter high hurdles and fourth in the 300 hurdles, Ian Thomson was fourth in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes, Devin Weaver fourth in the 800, and Carson Noyes fourth in the discus.

Hopkins thrower Mason Tomes earned thirds in the shot put (44-05) and discus (112-09) and teammate Tanner Neuman was fourth in the shot.
