Lady Wildcats’ offense plates 22 runs vs. Hopkins

The Wayland High School varsity softball team stepped outside of O-K Gold Conference and tournament action Wednesday and defeated Hopkins 22-1

Emma Ludema took the victory on the mound, walking no one and striking out nine batters. She allowed four hits.

Leading the Wildcats’ offensive attack was Rya VanderKooi, who went 2-for-3 with a triple and a home run, with 7 RBIs. Kami Morse was 2-3, both singles. Kennedy Cole was 2-4, with a single and a home run. Emma Tornes was 2-4, with a single and a double. Ludema contributed a single and a double.

Kinciad, Sikkema and Reed each had one hit.

Wayland now is 6-2 on the season overall. Hopkins, meanwhile, fell to 3-4.
