Lady Vikings now 7-2 in O-K Silver dual meet contests

Freshman Kambria Moored won both hurdling events.

The Hopkins girls’ varsity track team Wednesday took three dual meet contests against O-K Silver Conference rivals and the boys went 2-1 on the day, a quad meet .

The Lady Vikings defeated Calvin Christian 103-32, Wyoming Godwin Heights 99-17 and Comstock Park 80-41. The boys bested Godwin 122-10 and Comstock Park 93-44, but lost 72.5 to 64.5 to Calvin Christian.

Registering first-place finishes during the competition overall for Hopkins were Nevaeh Helderop in the open 800 meters at 2:39.71 (with teammates Helena Kerber and Jaeden Harshberger going 2-3); freshman Kambria Moored in the 100-meter high hurdles at 17.26 seconds and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 50.27 seconds; The 400-meter relay team of Navaya Ingle, Vanessa Berry, Alex Jackson and Emma Bartz-Peck in 56.77 seconds; Grace Brenner in the shot put at 34-1 and 92-5 in the discus; and Berry and Sierra Emaus went 1-2 in the long jump. Jackson was runner-up to Moored in both hurdles.

First-place performances for the Viking guys came from Trevor Shealy in the 100-meter dash at 11.64 seconds and the 200 in 23.75; Adam Ball at 2:11.31 in the 800; Josh Tew, Tanner Neuman and Aiden Janowsky went 1-2-3 in the shot, with the winning toss at 41-8;  Tew in the discus at 120-4, and Logan Klinge with a season-best 11-6 in the pole vault.

Nathan Onderlinde, Isaac Koperski, Jacob Helder and Caleb Beilby swept places 2 through 5 in the intermediate hurdles and Mason Tomes and Tanner Neuman added a third and a fourth in the discus.

The Hopkins girls now are 7-2 in dual meets in the Silver and the boys are 6-3. They’ll be back in action Saturday for their own Invitational.
