Sierra Smith

The Hopkins softball offensive juggernaut continues, and this time they didn’t just score in double figures, they plated 26 and 22 runs in a doubleheader sweep of O-K Silver Conference rival Kelloggsville Monday afternoon.

The Vikings touched home plate 10 times in the first inning and 22 in the second to launch the rout in the first game.

Lyla Reynolds and Sierra Smith belted home runs and Emily Dimock a double to highlight the fireworks. The Vikings came up with 15 hits. Reynolds collected five runs batted in, Smith has three RBIs and she, Dimock, and Madison Schwartz drilled two hits apiece.

Freshman Hannah Brinks and Smith combined on a three-inning no-hitter, though the Rockets had two unearned runs. Smith struck out five Kelloggsville batters in two innings or work.

Hopkins had a devastating 19-run rally in the second inning to put way the Rockets early in the nightcap. Hannah Brinks clubbed a double and triple, Avery Osborn has three singles and three RBIs amd Megan Andres and Cami Hibma came up with two hits apiece, as Hopkins had 14 in all.

Brinks hurled two scoreless innings with four strikeouts and Schwartz tossed an inning in relief.

The Lady Vikings will find the going a little rougher Wednesday at Zeeland East. They will enter the twin bill with a gaudy 12-1 overall record.
