Four Vikings find way into school softball record book

Hopkins varsity softball coach Amy Bishop Funk, in assessing the season just concluded, noted that four current players found a way to sneak into the school record books.

Lyla Reynolds, Peyton Roxbury, Sierra Smith and Hannah Brinks now have planted their names onto the list of Vikings with great deeds of old. Reynolds alone broke eight school records.

Funk sent along some art work to show the results.

The posting on Facebook today declared, “So proud! Many records were broken this year. Congrats to Lyla, Sierra, Peyton and Hannah. Go Lady Vikings!”

Hopkins was eliminated in the district finals Saturday by a Wayland team that now is 36-1 for the season. The Vikings nonetheless had one of their better years, at 22-10.

Hopkins had very successful seasons in past years, but things have been more challenging since they were moved up from Division 3 to Division 2. Noting this, Funk deliberately attempted to beef up of the competition on the regular season schedule.
