Vikings lose 4-set league dual volleyball showdown

The Hopkins varsity volleyball team suffered a blow to its chances of winning the O-K Silver Conference championship Thursday night in a four-set loss to NorthPointe Christian.

“The girls started slow and lost the first set (19-25) and then sets 2 (22-25), 3 (25-22) and 4 (23-25) were very close,” coach Terri Wisser said.

The Vikings will finish up the regular season Monday, Oct. 17, at Belding and then wil compete in the conference tournament Saturday, Oct. 22.

Leading Hopkins individually and statistically were:

• Kills: Corrie Wisser 15, Mady Weber 11, Kate Cleypool 10, Lilly Iciek 4, Lyla Reynolds 3.

• Assists: Corrie Wisser 23, Ellie Sebright 4.

• Aces: Corrie Wisser 3, Ellie Sebright/Kylee Sykes/Mady Weber/Kate Cleypool 2.

• Blocks: Corrie Wisser/Lyla Reynolds 2.

• Digs: Corrie Wisser 21, Ellie Sebright/Kate Cleypool 18, Mady Weber 16.

The Lady Vikings now have a 5-1 record in the league while NorthPointe is 7-0. Their overall record is 26-9-4.
