Hopkins wins ‘Volley for a Cure’ non-league match

The Hopkins High School volleyball team swept Allegan Wednesday in the annual Pink Out Match.

“It was great event with tremendous community support,” said coach Terri Wisser.

The Lady Vikings won the match in three sets (25-17, 25-15, 25-18) in the last home match of the season and the farewell home contests for Mady Weber and Corrie Wisser.

Leading Hopkins in individual statistics were:

• Kills: Kate Cleypool 13, Mady Weber 8, Corrie Wisser 7, Lyla Reynolds 5, Lilly Iciek 4, Peyton Roxbury/Reid Groenhout 3, Alison Williams 2.

• Assists: Corrie Wisser 33.

• Blocks: Corrie Wisser/Alison Williams/Mady Weber 1.

• Aces: Corrie Wisser 7, Kate Cleypool 2, Kylee Sykes 1.

• Digs: Corrie Wisser/Ellie Sebright/Mady Weber 11, Kate Cleypool 9, Kylee Sykes 4, Lilly Iciek 3, Alison Williams/Peyton Roxbury/Lilly VandenBosch 1.

Hopkins finished the O-K Silver Conference season with an 8-1 dual match record and the league championship and its overall record of 32-11-4. The Vikings will play next Wednesday in the district tournament semifinals against either Hamilton or Wayland.
