Two new school trucks price rises by 15 percent

School board student representative Ava Makowski

One good example of how prices have risen of late surfaced Monday night at the Wayland Board of Education meeting.

Patricia Velie, assistant superintendent for finance and operations, told the school board that $80,000 had been aside months ago for buying two new maintenance trucks. Because of supply chain problems, the deal was not completed.

Velie pointed out that the need for two new trucks still exists, but the cost has risen to $92,272. She asked the board to purchase the trucks regardless.

The board will decide at a later date.

The board did approve spending $23,130 for new cafeteria tables for Baker Elementary, approved the middle school choir’s field trip next May and buses for the Grad Bash trip and party next May.
