Wildcat girls’ hoop team lifts season record to 3-0

The Wayland girls’ varsity basketball team made it three in a row for the young season Tuesday night with a 49-43 non-league decision at Caledonia.

The Lady Wildcats reversed their recent trend of starting slowly and then cruising past their opponent. They came out strong in the early going, taking a 28-16 lead at intermission.

The Scots outscored them 27-21 in the second half to make the final score as close as it was.

Junior pivot Reese Coughlin, better known for her defensive prowess, paced Wayland with 15 points. Freshman guard Taylor Lyon swished four three-point field goals to score 12 points and senior Mady Terry added 10.

The Lady Wildcats now are 3-0.
