Clerk says despite road millage loss, Dorr Twp. in good financial shape

Budget99The loss of the road millage has cost Dorr Township $123,273 in the last year, according to the annual audit presented to the Township Board Tuesday night by Clerk Brian Boot.

However, Dorr still has a fund balance of just over a million dollars, about which Boot said,” We have a year’s worth (of money) in our savings account.”

The final audit was released by Siegfried & Crandall auditors of Grand Rapids.

The clerk said Dorr actually has just over $2.3 million cash in the bank, once again showing it’s in good financial shape.

“We’re in an excellent financial condition for a township,” he told colleagues on the board.

Boot also outlined material adjustments the auditor said are needed, particularly in the category of “correct cash balances.” He noted the auditor said the problems are typical for municipalities that do not have a full-time accountant on staff.

Boot said the auditor gave Dorr Township a grade of B minus while highest it could achieve under the conditions was a B.
