The Wayland City Council has scheduled a public hearing for 7 p.m. Monday, March 6, on special assessments for sidewalks in the East Maple Street project later this year.
The city has not yet determined exactly what each household will have to pay because some already have sidewalks in front of their homes and some are even buried.
Plans call for the north side of the street to have new sidewalks, but not the south. The sidewalks and paving will stretch three blocks eastward from North Main Street to the back of Steeby Elementary.
City Manager Tim McLean said he expects Finance Director Cheri Parrish and Department of Public Works Superintendent Cole Lutz to be on hand for the meeting to answer any questions residents may have.
The city customarily has shared costs of the concrete with residents in street projects.
