Gusting winds cause power outages in West Michigan

Fierce winds that reached more than 50 miles per hour caused power outages affecting more than 120,000 residents in this area Saturday afternoon and evening. Shown here are public safety responders handling a downed power wire in Leighton Township on Division Avenue, not far from the Paws for a Cause building. Many people reported on Facebook that they lost power, including the Hilliards Corner Lounge and a stretch of 142nd Avenue at Leppink’s Grocery and the strip mall across the street. Many also reported their power was restored Saturday night.
