Handgun found at Hopkins school given to sheriff dept.

A handgun found at Hopkins Middle School Thursday was turned over to the Allegan County Sheriff’s Department

Superintendent Gary Wood said the sheriff’s department is investigating, adding that Hopkins has a zero tolerance policy for firearms or weapons on school property.

An e-mail sent to parents indicated, “No threats were made to any students or staff and we are very confident this is an isolated incident.”
