Hopkins FFA students earn right to be in state contests

A solid number of Hopkins High School members of the FFA Tuesday competed in the Regional Leadership Contests and qualified for the state competition.

The following is a list of Hopkins FFAers, their category, placing and type of award:

• Creed Speaking: Ellise Wedge – first place Gold. Addy Laarman – fourth place Gold.

• JH Speaking: Leah Jablonski – third place Silver.

• Green Hand Speaking: Olivia Belden – first place Gold. Chase Laarman – second place Gold.

• Prepared Speaking: Emma Langlois – fourth place Gold.

• Extemporaneous Speaking: Kaden Petroshus – first place Gold.

Job Interview: Gracie Langlois – third place Gold.

• Ag Issues Team – second place Gold, Leah Ellis, Emilie Coffey, Tally Laarman, Colby Tucker and Carson Schricker.

FFA instructor and advisor Jessica Couch commented, “I’m so proud of all of these kids! Some were excited and some were disappointed in the results, but all of them stepped up to represent their chapter, gave their all, and grew as individuals and leaders. That’s what it’s all about.”
