Hopkins High School graduate Zach Harig has decided to leave FOX-17 and the TV industry to take a job as community relations and public relations coordinator for the Gun Lake Casino.
“The past three years have truly been a dream, from working at the station I interned at in high school, to working with some of my best friends, I can’t thank my bosses and the people at FOX 17 enough,” Harig posted on Facebook today. “Over the past few months, I’ve re-evaluated what truly means the most to me and that is time with family and friends, including on nights, weekends and holidays.”
He heaped praise on his bosses and co-workers at Fox 17 and added, “To all of the coaches, athletes, athletic directors, viewers and supporters, I can’t thank you enough for trusting me to cover your teams and tell your stories. There’s nothing like local sports in West Michigan and I’m so thankful to call this place home!”
Harig’s last day as a full-time employee at FOX 17 will be Nov. 5 and he will continue to be at FOX 17 as a sports freelancer.
