Hopkins District Library will be closed for renovations starting Thursday, Feb. 15, for about four to six weeks.

The renovations, which started last summer with a new roof and new siding, will include new carpets, walls, interior and exterior doors, and a fresh new layout.

“We’re very excited about the changes,” said Library Director Kevin Meyer. “Much of what is here is from when the building was originally built in 1984, and it has been well loved and well used in the 40 years since. It’s time for our lovely little library to get a facelift.”

While the building is closed, residents will still have access to library services. They can check out and hold books from other libraries in the Lakeland Library Cooperative, including Dorr Township Library, Henika District Library (in Wayland), Salem Township Library, and Leighton Township Library.

Residents also can continue to use online services such as Libby to access audiobooks and ebooks remotely. Any books checked out before the closure that belong to Hopkins District Library can be returned to any Lakeland Library, or patrons can return them once the library reopens (with no late fees).

Hopkins District Library is a member of the Lakeland Library Cooperative, and serves residents of Hopkins Township, Hopkins Village, Watson Township, and Monterrey Township.
