Planner Tim Johnson leaves for East Lansing post

tim-johnsonTim Johnson, longtime planner for Dorr, Martin and Wayland townships, has left Main Street Planning in Grand Rapids to take a full-time position as planning and zoning administrator for the City of East Lansing.

Johnson and his wife, Janis, who was the City of Wayland planner for about a year, formed Main Street Planning in Grand Rapids in 2014 after leaving Wade Trim. Janis continues to run Main Street.

Janis took over as planner for the City of Wayland after Building Inspector and Planning and Zoning Administrator Brian Urquhart left to work full time for the Village of Middleville. Her first Planning Commission meeting was in November 2014.

She and Tim, formed their new business, but Tim Johnson continued to be planner for Dorr Township, Martin Township, Wayland Township and Watson Township.

He also was planner for Bowne Township, Grand Rapids Township and Lowell Township in Kent County, Allendale Township in Ottawa County, the City of Hastings in Barry County, the City of Ionia in Ionia County and many others all over West Michigan.
