WHS robotics team demonstrates unit to younger students

Robotics demo SteebyOne of the requirements for FIRST Robotics Teams is to inspire younger students in robotics and STEM activities, so this week the WHS Robotics Team #6090 visited Steeby fourth-graders, the Computer Science Club and fifth-and sixth-graders at Pine Street Elementary. The team demonstrated its robot and answered questions about the entire process from building the robot for competition. The WHS team finished 136th out of 411 teams and won the Rookie All-Star Award at East Kentwood’s competition. They now have been invited to compete for the State Rookie All Star Award and will present to a panel of judges this Saturday morning, April 16, at the Deltaplex in Grand Rapids. If they win this State rookie award, it would allow them to compete at the World Championship in St. Louis April 27.
