Vikings lose 8-6 to Wyoming Lee in extra-inning thriller

The Hopkins baseball loHopkins baseballst an extra-inning 8-6 ballgame to O-K Silver Conference rival Wyoming Lee Monday.after losing the lead in the eighth inning Monday.

Brock Eller got on base three times in the game for the Vikings. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third.

James Wubben was charged with the loss on the mound. He lasted 4 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out five, but allowed five runs.

In the bottom of the first, the Hopkins grabbed the early lead, 2-0. After Eller doubled, Terry Thomas doubled, bringing home Eller and Zach Brechting.

The Vikings put up one run in each of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth. In the third, they scored on an RBI single by Eller, plating Austin Black. In the fourth, the Hopkins scored on an RBI single by Sid VanderTuin, scoring Thomas.

Lee finally took the lead in the eighth, scoring two runs on two singles.

Hopkins now is 1-1-1 in league play and 1-2-1 overall on the season.
