Though people who live in the City of Wayland don’t have a dog in the well-publicized hunt for 80th District State Representative Tuesday, Nov. 3, they do have an opportunity to show up at the polls for a City Council election.
The “contest,” if it can be referred to as such, is four incumbents running unopposed for four open seats. City Council members Jennifer Antel, John Sloan, Lisa Banas and Rick Mathis are the four.
Sloan is seeking his first full term on the council. He was appointed earlier this year when Ron Kobish left to take a job in the City of Auburn Hills.
The 80th Legislative District, which will see a lively Republican Party primary Nov. 3, does not include the City of Wayland, nor the Townships of Dorr, Leighton and Wayland, but all the rest of Allegan County, including Hopkins, Martin and Watson Townships.
