Wayland Fire Dept. ‘Smokehouse’ always busy this time of year

October every year is regarded as Fire Prevention Month and area departments this time of year visit elementary classrooms to teach fire safety to children. Wayland Fire Chief Joe Miller is shown here welcoming kids to the Scotty Fire Safety House, a 28-foot travel trailer which simulates a blaze inside the home and demonstrates ways to minimize personal harm and escape.
