Wayland Fire Dept. to be open during power outage

The Wayland Fire Department will be open from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday through Sunday as a warming station during the time Consumers Energy plans to have a power outage.

The department made the statement: “If anyone in the community needs a warming shelter during planning a power outage in Wayland and surrounding areas on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 11 p.m. Saturday to Sunday, Dec. 8, at 6 a.m.

Affected residents were mailed postcards from Consumers Energy earlier this week. Due to the forecasted temperatures on Saturday night, the department decided to offer its facility if needed.
