Wayland robotics team takes 1st in GVSU contest

The Wayland High School robotics team #6090 Saturday brought home the gold at the First Robotics West Michigan competition at Grand Valley State University. The local group, coached by Rod Killips, also received the Gracious Professionalism Award! The Wayland team won the state championship a year ago and earned a trip to the world competiion in Houston, winning six of ten matches.

The team has officially earned enough points to be eligible for the state competition. FIRST in Michigan State Championship will be held April 4-6.
