Wayland Union Schools has been selected to receive a 2018 “Safety Is No Accident” award, one of only five awards in the state.

Each year five members of the MASB-SEG Property/Casualty Pool are honored for outstanding efforts in reducing claims and increasing loss control measures that help ensure the safety of staff, students, and visitors.

“We are very pleased to receive this award,” said Pat Velie, director of finance and operations, “We are proud of the work we do to keep our facilities safe.”

The district received the award based  low property/casualty loss ratio, best practices being completed (proper accident investigation and timely documentation and use of Safe Schools online training), making safety a priority within district administration, school buildings that are clean and well maintained, recommendations are complied with in a timely manner, playgrounds are well maintained and maintenance staff has worked hard at keeping the facilities safe for everyone.
