Wildcat girls limit Cedar Springs to just 19 points

The Wayland girls’ varsity basketball team started the second half of the O-K Gold Conference basketball season Friday night with an easy 55-19 victory at Cedar Springs.

The win improved the Lady Wildcats’ league-leading record to 7-1 and now they are 13-3 overall. The Redhawks, meanwhile, slipped to 2-6 in the Gold and 3-13 overall.

Leading scorer sophomore Harmony Laker dropped in 16 points and freshman inside player Addi Sikorski added 14.

Wayland managed only two three-point field goals for the evening, one by senior guard Maddy Terry and another by sophomore Izzy Johnson. Terry finished with seven points and Johnsonn Reese Coughlin both had five.

The Wayland boys edged Cedar Springs 47-44 later in the evening to move their overall season record to 8-6 and league record to 3-6. Cedar Springs is winless in the O-K Gold and 2-12 overall.
