

The Wayland softball team will play O-K Gold Conference rival Grand Rapids South Christian at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, in the opening round of the Division 2 district tournament at Hopkins..
The Wildcats will take a 30-1 overall record, 12-0 in the league standings, into the contest against the Sailors, who currently own an overall record of 18-13.
If Wayland wins Tuesday’s ballgame, it will face another O-K Gold rival, Middleville Thornapple Kellogg (12-13), in the semifinals at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 4. Tourney host Hopkins, which owns an overall record of 18-8, will take on Hastings in the other semifinal, at noon June 4.
The finals will be played at 2 p.m. that day.
Wayland has defeated both South Christian and TK twice earlier this season and the Vikings have bested Hastings two times as well.
