The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing $420,000 to fix the 140th Avenue bridge over US-131 in Allegan County.
The bridge, not far from Dorr, was struck by a truck with an oversized load. Crews will replace the damaged facia beam and repair the bridge deck.
“Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to grow our economy, helping Michiganders go to work, drop their kids off at school and run errands safely,” said Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. “By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs without raising taxes by a dime.
”This year, let’s build on our momentum to pass a bipartisan local road funding plan so we can keep fixing our damn roads and creating good-paying, local jobs.”
Start date: for the Project is Monday, July 7. Estimated end date is mid-September 2025
So 140th Avenue will be closed over U.S.-131 for about two months, starting 7 a.m. Monday, July 7. Weekday lane closures will be in effect on northbound U.S.-131 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support four jobs. The project will replace the damaged beam, improve the bridge deck and extend the service life of the bridge.
140th or 144th? The 144th Ave bridge is actually missing a beam. I would think that would be a higher priority.
