Mr. Baker owned a big Harley in the late 1950’s and gave a seven year old his first ride on a motorcycle. Sitting next to the tank and feeling the wind and power beneath the seat was a terrific experience – real freedom. I saw him some time ago and reminded him of that ride and what it mean to me – a lifelong lover of anything to do with motorcycles.
He had a twinkle in his eye and said that was one of the best motorcycles he ever owned – big Harley with Fat Bob tank, suicide shifter, an engine with tons of torque and a pleasure to ride. All his physical maladies seemed to take a back seat to that memory and in his mind he was young again, if only for a few seconds.. Thank you Big John! God bless you and your family.
