Lester G. Decker age 60, of Grandville, died Thursday, Aug. 3, at Lacks Cancer Center, after a hard fought battle with leukemia.

Lester was a 1975 graduate of Wayland High School. He was retired from Canteen Services, and was an avid accomplished fisherman, NASCAR, Tigers and Lions fan.

He is survived by his sisters, Shirley and Marvin (Schuh) Bruursema, and GeorgAnn and Michael (Decker) Johnson; special friends, Laura Ansara and Shirley Ansara; along with many nieces and nephews who loved Uncle “Bink”; cousins and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mae (Varnau) Decker; brothers and sister-in-laws, Jim and Sandy Decker, and Louis “Sonny” and Virginia Schuh Jr.; sister, Elizabeth “Betty” and Noel (Schuh) Maxson.

A committal service will take place at noon Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Dorr Cemetery, 1715 142nd. Ave., Dorr with a luncheon to follow at American Legion Post 127, 4310 18th St., Dorr.
