1967 WHS grad Pat VanEss dies at age 73 in Arizona

Patricia Ann (Pat) VanEss, age 73, died Oct. 27, after battling health issues.

Born to Francis and James Carpenter, Pat graduated in 1967 from Wayland High School, where she was a member of the marching band. Pat married fellow 1967 graduate Dale VanEss and they were together for 55 years.

Pat was a loving mother to her two children, Dale VanEss Jr. and Sheri Harbaugh. She also  loved her grandchildren(Megan, Stephen, Michael, and Kayla) and great grandchildren(Corbyn, MicKinlee, Paislee, and Penelope).

Pat decided to continue her education later in life, and attended Davenport University, where she made the Dean’s List.

After retiring she and Dale traveled around the states before settling in Picture Rocks, Arizona (her favorite place). They joined Most Holy Trinity Parish where Pat started a Ladies Craft Group. She loved to make earrings, socks, shawls, and purse charms to give to anyone who wanted them.

Pat is survived by her husband Dale, her two children, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, her sister Peg Shafer, and her two brothers, John Carpenter and Tom Carpenter.

Oasis Cremation and Funeral Care handled the cremation.
