Gwendolyn Standish Metz, 88, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, April 13.

Gwen graduated from Wayland High Schoo. She married John Metz in 1953. She was a farmer’s wife, and ran the farm and the household until they retired to their home on Gun Lake.

She is survived by her daughters, Margie Ellen Metz, Susan (Ed) Landon, Terri (Bob) Colburn; 7 grandchildren, Jeannie (Bob) Hammer, Cassandra (OJ) Krcma, Melissa (Lenny) Gajeski, Eddy (Andrea) Landon, Racheal (Jason) Clark, Rob Colburn Ray (Sondra) Colburn; many great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; sister-in-law Ruthie Cronen; and her faithful dog, Molly.

Her husband, John Raymond Met,z and her granddaughter, Audra Sue Landon, preceded her in death.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 21, at the Kubiak Funeral Home, 312 Main St. Wayland. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan B Komen Foundation for breast cancer awareness.
