Dorr 4th of July celebration starts early, Friday, June 30

The annual Fourth of July celebration at Dorr this year will cover an ambitious five days, from Friday, June 30, to Tuesday, July 4, with most of the activities taking place at the North Park and South Park west of town on 142nd Avenue.

Opening the festival will carnival offerings from Friday, June 30 to Tuesday, July 4, at South Park.

Saturday, July 1

The Freedom 5K run will get under way at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 1, at Dorr Township Park.

A craft show is planned for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Township Park.

The third annual Dorr Summer Sizzler NTPA Truck and Tractor Pull will get under way at 7 p.m. Saturday at 2245 144th Ave, Dorr, with gates opening at 4 p.m. and cost of $15 per person.

The truck and tractor pull was rated the best of 2022 in West Michigan.

Sunday, July 2

A community church service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at South Park.

A Patriots & Pin Up Car Show will take place at 11 a.m. at Dorr Township Park.

Monday, July 3

Bernal Law will sponsor the first annual Pickle Ball Tournament during the Dorr Business Association’s Dorr 4th celebration from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, July 3. The competition will be held at the Dorr Township North Park on the shared tennis/pickleball court. This will be a free family-friendly doubles tournament

Bernal Law also is sponsoring a Bingo event from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Township Park. Street food will b e available beginning at 4 p.m. Monday at the park.

A corn hole tournament will begin at 4 p.m. Monday at South Park.

Nathan Walton and the Remedy will perform live music from 4 to 6 p.m. at the park, followed by Jimmy and the Mortals from 5 to 8 p.m. 

A disc golf tournament will be held at 6 p.m. at the park.

A free showing of the 1994 movie “The Little Rascals” will be offered at dusk at South Park.

Tuesday, the Fourth of July

The Dorr Business Association’s annual Dorr 4th of July parade will step off at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the downtown area of 18th Street and 142nd Avenue.

The ever-popular ox roast and chicken barbecue will get fired up at noon at South Park, after the parade.

The Luke Lenhart Band will play live music from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at South Park. The band Deer Field Run will provide a live performance from 8 to 9:30 p.m. at South Park.

Fireworks are scheduled to begin at dusk Tuesday at the Township Park.
