Have we just seen a record local rainfall?

This was the scene Wednesday afternoon outside the 4One2 eatery and arcade on South Main Street, as a result of what some weather watchers are calling record-setting rain.

Some local weather watchers have estimated that the amount of rainfall in northeast Allegan County Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at more than three inches. Storms visited with as many as nine low level tornados in Michigan on Monday, March 31, causing considerable damage. Then Wednesday morning the area was pelted by a snow and rain mix, followed by fierce rainstorms. Some folks in the area are expressing concerns about flooding and paved roads have huge puddles, making motorists’ travel somewhat dicey. Some now insist that the rain totals are record setting.

Not quite the 10 inches of rain in two hours we received in 1997. As measured in my cousins rain gauge.
