The summer of 2025 has been rough for the residents of the Wayland and northwest Allegan County, featuring heat, humidity and a lengthy drought. This evil spell was broken Saturday afternoon by the first decent measurable rainfall. The precipitation came in two different rounds, first one started just after 2 p.m. with about a half hour of significant downpour. When it was all over, the Gun Lake area was host to a nice, picturesque rainbow. The photo is courtesy of Sandy Wanamaker Brenner.
