Ruth Perry dies 3 weeks before her 100th birthday

Ruth Virginia Perry, three weeks shy of her 100th birthday, died in the early hours of Thursday, Oct. 16, at Beacon Hill Apartments in Grand Rapids. She was born Nov. 5, 1925.

Ruth was an independent woman who led a diversely fulfilling life. Dancing and singing, painting and playing golf, reading and traveling to many places were some of the activities she enjoyed with friends. Her large family was also cherished.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Hazel Perry of Wayland, and siblings Lawrence, Howard, Jack, Bob, Vivian, Irene, and Orie. Ruth is survived by her two sisters, Carolyn Buskirk and Linda Palmer; in-laws George Palmer and Linda Kay Perry; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home (Wayland Chapel), 312 N. Main St. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Ruth will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery in Wayland.

In memory of Ruth and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice.
