Born June 18, 1988, Dana was a 2006 graduate of Grandville High School. She attended GRCC and Aquinas College and graduated with a BSN degree in 2011. She began her nursing career at Spectrum Health on the Neuro floor and then was able to transfer to the PICU at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.

It was her calling and dream to use her nursing skills to help the children and their families in their time of need. Though Dana never shared the impact she had on her patients and their families, it has been apparent that the light of Christ touched many patients, coworkers, and friends that Dana came in contact with in her 26 years. Her favorite verse was Galatians 2:20.

Dana is survived by her husband, Jonathon Carter, who was the love of her life; parents, William and Karen Bowman; sisters Erin Bowman, and Leanne and her husband, Matt Zietlow; grandparents, Robert and Lois Bowman and George H. Karr; aunts and uncles, Robert and Crystal Bowman, Dan and Glenda Bowman, Rayanne and John Guiles, Shelia Breuckman, George Karr, and Melissa Karr; and many cousins.

Dana was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Barbara Karr; maternal great grandparents, Edgar and Elsie Frost, Raymond and Alice Karr; paternal great grandparents, George and Inga Bowman, George and Josephine Edsenga.

Funeral services will be held on at 11 a.m. Saturday at Resurrection Life Church Rez Center, 5100 Ivanrest Ave. SW, Grandville, with Pastor Zach Rasmusson officiating. Interment Rosedale Memorial Park.

Relatives and friends may meet the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW.
