The Allegan County Health Department has reported that as of Friday, May 15, there have been 180 cases of Coronavirus reported, but only two deaths.
There are a total of 78 individuals recovered, based on the MDHHS definition.
“We hear and understand people want to know more about where positive cases live. For confidentiality purposes, the Allegan County Health Department will not be publishing case counts for specific zip codes,” a health department spokesperson said. “Residents should continue to behave as though the virus may be present when they are in public places in the community and take all recommended prevention measures.
“Many people with COVID-19 experience only mild symptoms. This is particularly true at the early stages of the disease. It is therefore possible to catch COVID-19 from someone who has, for example, just a mild cough and does not feel ill.”

If I still lived in Allegan County, MI, I would have some serious concerns. First, the reluctance of the health department to publish cases based on zip code. Even in crazy AZ, crazier Maricopa County, we have zip code cases updated at least weekly. Second, I would want to know the rate of testing in Allegan County to back up these scant reported cases. Third, simply based on the uptick in obituaries in Townbroadcast, I would be suspicious of the causes of death. I would suspect COVID-19 or related complications to be culprits. But that's just me.
