Allegan County Covid-19 threat continues to decline

Fatalities from the Covid-19 virus continue to inch upward in Allegan County, but all other indicators continue to show the threats of the disease declining.

As of Monday, June 7, the number of Coronavirus deaths was reported by the Allegan County Health Department to be 148, three more than last week and five over the past two weeks.

However, the positivity rates among new cases tested has slipped to 7.8 percent and the daily average of new cases over the last seven days is down to three, dramatically down from 12.3 less than two weeks ago. The high this year in that statistic was 76 on April 19.

Hospitalizations from the virus are at 253 and the number of Covid cases discovered in the more than 14 months in Allegan County now is 11,125. A total of 10,608 patients have been reported to have recovered from the virus.

More than 23,500 tests for the virus have been performed since the pandemic began in March 2020.
