Allegan County’s Covid-19 death toll increases to 26

The number of deaths due to the Coronavirus since last March in Allegan County has climbed to 26 as of Tuesday.

The Allegan County Health Department reported there have been 3,617 total cases since the pandemic began in March, with 101 hospitalizations. A total of 1,391 have been announced as recovered from the virus and 557 cases are being monitored currently.

Allegan County was able to avoid the worst of the pandemic throughout most of the spring and summer, but only a couple of months ago the number of cases and deaths spiked. The deaths went from just six in September to 26 now.

Wayland, Hopkins and Martin schools remain at level “D” in evaluations from the Health Department, just one step above having to switch to all on-line learning protocol.
