Another member of the Ritz family of Wayland has made her mark in the athletic arena.
Mallory Ritz-Johnson this week was named to the first unit of the all-state volleyball team as the junior outside hitter on the Byron Center state semifinalist and O-K Green Conference championship squad. The Lady Bulldogs, coached by Wayland High School basketball, volleyball and softball standout Missy Ritz-Johnson, made it all the way to the state semifinal round last weejkbefore bowing to eventual state champion Farmington Hills Mercy.
Mallory is a cousin to softball standouts Jessie, Brittani and Macy Merchant and a niece of veteran softball coaching legend Cheri Ritz.
